Kazakhstan President to visit Germany

Astana. January 26. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay an official visit to Germany on January 29 - February 1 by the invitation of the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, the Kazakh MFA official representative Yerzhan Ashikbayev informed today at the briefing.

During the visit bilateral negotiations of the Kazakhstan leader with the Chancellor of Germany will take place. "The meetings of the President with the Federal President Horst Keller, the Chairman of Bundestag Norbert Lammert and the representatives of political circles, leaders of the largest German companies, the representatives of the Kazakh diasore, immigrants and students are planned to take place.

Following the results of the negotiations, the parties will sign bilateral documents.

"Considering the importance of expansion of bilateral commerce and economic cooperation with Germany as a key partner of Kazakhstan in Europe, the economic forum Kazakh-German economic dialogue has been planned," Y. Ashikbayev said.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Germany is the sixth largest trading partner of Kazakhstan. Commodity turnover for January - November, 2006 totaled $2.2 billion, including the share of export - $0.5 billion, import - $1.7 billion. In 2005 commodity turnover between the countries reached $1.7 billion, in 2004 - $1.2 billion.
