Kazakhstan President to visit Turkmenistan on September 11-12

The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay official visit to Turkmenistan on September 11-12, a source in the president's administration informed the agency.

Astana. September 4. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay official visit to Turkmenistan on September 11-12, a source in the president's administration informed the agency.

The source has not informed on the visit schedule, however, proceeding from the foreign mass media information, one of the themes of Ashgabat meetings will be the Near-Caspian gas pipeline.

As it was informed earlier, in May 2007, the Presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan - Vladimir Putin, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov agreed on construction of the Near-Caspian gas pipeline at the tripartite summit in Turkmenbashi. The gas pipeline is supposed to pass along the coast of the Caspian Sea on the territory of Turkmenistan, through Kazakhstan to Russia. The agreement that includes development of the feasibility report, the main characteristics, terms of realization of the project, was scheduled to have been signed till September 1.

However, one of these days, vice Prime Minister of Russia Sergey Naryshkin informed that the work on the intergovernmental agreement has not been completed yet.

According to the Russian mass media, the question whether the President of Russia Vladimir Putin will arrive in September in Turkmenistan remains open. "The decision on the visit of the Russian President to Ashkhabad has been made yet," a source in the Kremlin informed Independent newspaper.
