Kazakhstan President urges CIS countries to struggle with criminality

The head of the state, Nursultan Nazarbayev, at the meeting with the Prime Ministers of the CIS countries in Akorda, in connection with deterioration of the economic situation, called upon the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States to struggle with criminality, the agency reports.

Kazakhstan Today - The head of the state, Nursultan Nazarbayev, at the meeting with the Prime Ministers of the CIS countries in Akorda, in connection with deterioration of the economic situation, called upon the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States to struggle with criminality, the agency reports.

"Crime rate always increases with deterioration of the economic situation. We need to jointly struggle with this problem," the President of Kazakhstan said.

"Unfortunately, narcotraffic passes through the territory of Kazakhstan to other countries from Afghanistan. Our government has accepted a very serious program, has allocated the funds, and have made plans to reduce drug trafficking through Kazakhstan," the President of Kazakhstan said.

As informed earlier, the government of Kazakhstan confirmed financing of the program of struggle against drug business for 2009 - 2011 on May, 19th, 2009. "The program provides allocation of finances for the sum of 39 billion 714 million KZT," the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Serik Baymaganbetov, informed.
