Kazakhstan refused to participate in NATO exercises in territory of Georgia

Kazakhstan has refused to participate in NATO exercises in the territory of Georgia planned for May of 2009. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia, Abilbek Dzhaksybekov, informed during the round table in Moscow, the agency reports citing RBC.

Almaty. April 24. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan has refused to participate in NATO exercises in the territory of Georgia planned for May of 2009. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia, Abilbek Dzhaksybekov, informed during the round table in Moscow, the agency reports citing RBC.

"I think Kazakhstan simply does not need it. We have refused participation as Kazakhstan is the CSTO member," the diplomat said. He reminded that Kazakhstan has never participated in NATO events; though, it is always ready to cooperate with the Alliance.

The Ambassador has informed that Kazakhstan does not have plans of cooperation with the USA and the NATO in transit of military cargoes through the territory of the republic to Afghanistan. "We do not have any cooperation plans on military transit yet," he said.

As informed earlier by the Russian television channel Vesti, Kazakhstan, Estonia and Latvia would not participate in NATO exercises in the territory of Georgia. 19 NATO countries and Alliance partners will participate in NATO exercises.
