Kazakhstan Senate chairman to pay visit to Saudi Arabia

Astana. November 9. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan senate chairman of the Parliament Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev will make visit to Saudi Arabia by the invitation of the chairman of the Advisory Council of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Saleh ben Humaid in the beginning of 2008, the senate press service informed the agency on November 7.

"This visit will attach an additional impulse not only in the sphere of strengthening of contacts of the representative bodies of two countries, but also will promote further development of relations on all spectrum of interstate relations," K. Tokayev said on Wednesday at the meeting with the Minister for Islamic Affairs of Kingdom Saudi Arabia Sheikh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Al al-Sheikh who is in Kazakhstan for the official visit.

According to the senate press service, during the meeting the parties exchanged opinions on prospects of development of the Kazakhstan-Saudi relations and inter religious dialogue.

"The senate chairman expressed gratitude to the Saudi party for support of the initiative of the President Nursultan Nazarbayeva on convocation of the Congress of leaders of world and traditional religions and invited S. Muhammad Al al-Sheikh to take part in the work of III Congress, which will take place in 2009 in Astana," the message states.
