Kazakhstan state program Way to Europe directed at development of strategic partnership with EU countries approved

The state program Way to Europe 2009 - 2011 has been approved by the decree of the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. The text of the decree has been published in official press, the agency reports.

Astana. September 5. Kazakhstan Today - The state program Way to Europe 2009 - 2011 has been approved by the decree of the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. The text of the decree has been published in official press, the agency reports.

The decree was signed by the leader of the state on August 29.

"The main objective of the accepted program - raising our country to the level of strategic partnership with the leading European countries, which will be expressed in substantial growth of commodity turnover with the European countries, to development of joint plans on development of transport networks, bringing technical rules and standards in conformity with the requirements of the EU countries, improvement of the Kazakhstan legislation up to the level of the European norms, etc.," the program explains.

The second goal is directed at improvement of the Kazakhstan institutional-legal base using positive European experience.

The third goal - provide preparation for presidency of Kazakhstan in OSCE in 2010. "A few priorities have been defined for this purpose in the program: continuation of the work on creation of conditions for development of democratic institutes on OSCE space, development of transit-transport potential of OSCE member states and the Eurasian transcontinental corridors, solution of environmental problems, strengthening of measures of trust and regional safety taking into account contribution of Kazakhstan to maintenance of peace and nuclear disarmament, development of non-military aspects of security in struggle against terrorism, extremism, drug business, organized crime, and restoration of Afghanistan," the document explains.
