Kazakhstan State Secretary received chairman of OSCE Center in Astana

The State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev received the chairman of OSCE Center in Astana, the Ambassador Ivar Vikki on Wednesday, the agency reports referring to the president's press service.

Astana. January 31. Kazakhstan Today - The State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev received the chairman of OSCE Center in Astana, the Ambassador Ivar Vikki on Wednesday, the agency reports referring to the president's press service.

According to the press service, the State Secretary expressed gratitude to Mr. Ivar Vikki for fruitful work on the post of the OSCE Ambassador and noted contribution of the center in development of cooperation between our country and the OSCE member states.

"Positive decision regarding application of Kazakhstan for OSCE presidency in 2010 accepted in Madrid in the end of last year is an unconditional recognition by the international community of real changes and impressing successes that Kazakhstan has achieved during the years of independence under leadership of the President Nursultan Nazarbayev. This is also the result of our joint long-term efforts of development of democracy in Kazakhstan," K. Saudabayev said opening the meeting.

The OSCE Ambassador thanked for high estimation of his work in Kazakhstan and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.

"I would like to congratulate Kazakhstan on the Madrid decision. I am certain Kazakhstan will show itself as a responsible OSCE chairman. The operating OSCE chairman Ilkka Kanerva will visit Kazakhstan in June 2008," I. Vikki informed.

According to the press service, during the meeting the parties discussed the issues regarding cooperation of Kazakhstan and OSCE in preparation for presidency in 2010.
