Kazakhstan suggests limiting military naval activity in the Caspian Sea - N. Nazarbayev

Kazakhstan suggests limiting military naval activity in the Caspian Sea by boundary marine units.

Astana. October 17. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan suggests limiting military naval activity in the Caspian Sea by boundary marine units. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stated on Tuesday at the summit of the Caspian littoral countries in Teheran.

The President considers that "in this context demilitarization of the Caspian Sea is the most preferable variant." "I know not everyone will agree, therefore I would like to draw attention to the idea about creation of the five-sided mechanism of control over arms in the Caspian Sea, which can become one more pledge of maintenance of safety and reliable means of prevention of conflicts," N. Nazarbayev said.

"Considering today's realities, as well as a geopolitical situation in the region, where strategic interests of large countries - consumers of energy are crossed, it is necessary that cooperation of our countries in the Caspian Sea will become an example of balanced, constructive and responsible approaches," he emphasized.

"Kazakhstan is adherent to the policy of maintenance of good-neighborhood relations in the Caspian Sea region. It is confirmed by our initiative in the project of the final declaration of the Summit on strengthening of fundamental bases for securing trust, safety and stability in the sea," the leader of Kazakhstan noted.
