Kazakhstan suggests opening SCO center for prevention and liquidation of emergencies

Kazakhstan suggests opening in Astana the center of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for prevention and liquidation of emergencies. The chairman of the apparatus of the Ministry of Emergency of Kazakhstan, Seytkazhy Okasov, informed during the meeting of emergency experts of the SCO member states, the agency reports.

Almaty. June 3. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan suggests opening in Astana the center of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for prevention and liquidation of emergencies. The chairman of the apparatus of the Ministry of Emergency of Kazakhstan, Seytkazhy Okasov, informed during the meeting of emergency experts of the SCO member states, the agency reports.

According to S. Okasov, creation of the SCO Center for prevention and liquidation of emergencies was initiated by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, in Bishkek in 2007.

"This will be a coordination centre of experts aimimg at development of documents so that in case of emergencies countries could render emergency help. There are customs procedures, boundary and other procedures," the chairman of the apparatus of the Ministry of Emergency of Kazakhstan informed.

He also informed that the experts are carrying preparation for the IV meeting of Emergency Ministers of SCO countries, which will take place on June 5th in Mangistau area. During the meeting, its participants will discuss the questions of approval of the plan of measures for realization of the agreement between the governments of the SCO states on cooperation in rendering assistance in liquidation of emergencies for 2009 - 2010.
