Kazakhstan suggests SCO states introducing a supranational currency

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, today during the session of the Council of the heads of the SCO member states taken place in Yekaterinburg proposed to begin work on creation of a supranational currency for mutual exchanges within the SCO states, the agency reports citing television channel Vesti.

Almaty. June 16. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, today during the session of the Council of the heads of the SCO member states taken place in Yekaterinburg proposed to begin work on creation of a supranational currency for mutual exchanges within the SCO states, the agency reports citing television channel Vesti.

In his opinion, this currency could be used in trade and economic settlements between the SCO countries. "The national currency in the role of a regional or a reserve world currency has become an obsolete scheme beneficial only for that country that proposes its national currency as a regional or a reserve one," the President of Kazakhstan considers.
