Astana. June 26. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan will continue cooperation with NATO to counteract modern threats and challenges. The Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, informed today at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Rose-Roth seminar, the agency reports.

"We need to strengthen international efforts directed at security and stability in Central Asia in the long-term prospect. The closer and more actively the countries in the region will cooperate, the more important their position will be in the international scene," K. Tokayev informed.

According to the Speaker of the Senate, "the international organizations, such as SCO and CSTO, which have created a strong basis for cooperation in the region, have also proved their importance and well-timed. However, the beginning of the new century, unfortunately, has not made the world safer, on the contrary, it is clear that struggle against international terrorism, extremism, drug business, and smuggling of weapons and nuclear materials will be a long struggle."

"Kazakhstan will continue to actively work along with all its partners, including NATO, to work and counteract these threats and challenges," K. Tokayev said.
