Kazakhstan to head OSCE economic-ecological committee - MFA

Astana. January 22. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan will head OSCE economic-ecological committee, the agency reports referring to the Kazakhstan MFA press service.

"Kazakhstan has been offered to head one of the major working bodies of OSCE - economic-ecological committee by the initiative of the Finnish OSCE presidency, which first session took place on January 15 in OSCE headquarters in Vienna," he informed.

"The committee headed by OSCE permanent representative of Kazakhstan, the Ambassador Kayrat Abdrakhmanov, will focus the activity on solution of the actual problems of economic and nature protection development of the organization's member states. Within the limits of the committee preparation to the 16th OSCE Economic forum on Cooperation of OSCE in the field of marine and internal waterways: strengthening of security and protection of environment will be held in Prague in the spring of 2008. This forum will be devoted to extremely important for Kazakhstan and other states of the region problem of strengthening of economy and transit-transport potential of the landlocked states," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan explained.

Since last year the economic-ecological committee has been included in the program of improvement of advisory process in the organizations, which also includes humanitarian committee and security committee. "The process is directed at increase of efficiency of OSCE activity and strengthening of coordination of its three measurements: military-political, economic-ecological and humanitarian," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan explained.
