Kazakhstan, Ukraine agree on extradiction mechanism

The interstate agreements also imply cooperation in the sphere of legal assistance in criminal cases.
Kazakh General Prosecutor Kairat Kozhamzharov and Ukrainian Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko signed agreements on mutual legal assistance in criminal cases and on extradition on October 29, 2018, in Astana, press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan reports.

The agreements enable the law enforcement bodies of the two states to conduct proceedings in criminal cases within each country, as well as to extradite persons to bring criminal charges against them.

Such agreements create a necessary legal framework for effective cooperation in combating crimes and protecting rights of citizens.

Following the ceremony, the foreign colleagues have presented the activity of the Centre for Law Enforcement of the General Prosecutor's Office, as well as the projects to digitalize the criminal and administrative procedure implemented by it.

Pavlo Petrenko was also informed on the activity of the Supervisory Body in international cooperation.

Note that Kazakhstan has signed about 60 bilateral international agreements in legal assistance, extradition and surrender.
