Astana. May 27. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan's goal in studying history - not to find enemies, but to objectively learn about the occurred events. The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, said today in Akorda at the meeting with the descendants of victims of political reprisals on the threshold of Day of Memory of Victims of Political Reprisals, the agency reports.

"There are now two extremes in studying history: the first approach is going back to the past to find who was guilty accusing the whole nation of what had happened. The second approach is all was fine and that it was necessary," N. Nazarbayev said.

He informed, "It seems to me the truth is in the middle. Our goal is not to search for enemies and not to forget what happened, but to learn the present history, to describe it and to recollect so that our descendants know it."

"We do not want to accuse someone or to accuse history. We simply wish to know the truth. Knowing the truth, we will know what to do so that it does not repeat again. We gathered today to recall victims of political reprisals," the head of state said.
