Kuwait increases salary of army soldiers and police

The Supreme Council of Defense of Kuwait will increase salaries of soldiers serving in the military and police, Kazakhstan Today reports.

Almaty. February 18. Kazakhstan Today - The Supreme Council of Defense of Kuwait will increase salaries of soldiers serving in the military and police, Kazakhstan Today reports.

The Supreme Council of Defense has agreed to increase the salary of soldiers serving in the military and police on Tuesday. The decision covers all military branches, such as the army, National Guards, police and the fire fighters. The pay raise also includes, aside from nationals, citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Bedouns (stateless Arabs), KuwaitSamachar reported.

The decision also includes granting those had taken part in the liberation of Iraq operations back in 2003 military medals, Al-Sour medals, with a 25 Kuwaiti dinars increase backdated.

Sources within the Supreme Council of Defense said that the increase vary in percentage according to military and police rank. Sources however confirmed that non-commissioned officers (NCOs) across the spectrum; army, National Guards, police as well as the fire fighters, would get a 100 percent pay raise. As for the officers in all four components, their pay raise varies from 70 percent to 85 percent

Meanwhile, sources revealed to Al Watan that that total cost of the generous salary pay raise for military, police, fire fighter and National Guard officers and NCOs will cost the treasury 250 million Kuwaiti dinars.
