Bishkek. September 17. Kazakhstan Today - The Constitutional court of Kyrgyzstan recognized the process of adoption by the Parliament in 2006 of the Basic Law of the Republic illegitimate. The decision was made public on Friday, following the results of the judicial hearing, initiated by the Parliament deputies.

"Thus, in Kyrgyzstan, the Constitution adopted in February, 2003 came into operation," the Constitutional court of Kyrgyzstan informed the agency.

The judges emphasized that the Basic Law of 2003 was accepted at the national referendum; therefore, the amendments or additions could have been introduced only through national voting.

As it was informed earlier, in 2006 the Constitution of Kyrgyzstan changed twice. First - in November, under the influence of mass meetings of the opposition. This variant of the Basic Law of the country considerably reduced the powers of the President, transferring them to the Parliament. The second time the Constitution was changed in December, on the eve of New year. In the last edition the powers of the leader of the state were restored.
