Kyrgyzstan President elected chairman of Ak-Zhol Party

The President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev has been elected the chairman of new Ak-Zhol Party on Monday during the Constituent Congress, the agency reports.

Bishkek. October 16. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev has been elected the chairman of new Ak-Zhol Party on Monday during the Constituent Congress, the agency reports.

The Constituent Congress took place during no more than half an hour. The delegates listened the speech of the President and unanimously accepted all program documents. The congress participants approved the emblem of the new party - white road on red background.

The political council of the party included more than 30 people, among them are the deputy of Zhogorku Kenesh (parliament) of Kyrgyzstan Alisher Sabirov, the rector of the Kyrgyzstan-Russian Slavic University Vladimir Nifadev, ex-speaker Altay Borubayev and other public officials and politicians.

As it was informed earlier, the referendum agenda, on October 21, had two questions - new edition of the Constitution and the new Code on Elections in Kyrgyzstan. If amendments offered by the President will be approved at the national voting, parliamentary elections will take place according to party lists.

More than hundred political parties are registered in Kyrgyzstan.
