Majilis approved bill on ratification of agreement between Kazakhstan and CICMA Secretariat

Today at the plenary session Majilis deputies approved the bill on ratification of the Agreement between Kazakhstan government and the Secretariat of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building (CICMA) on conditions of stay of CICMA Secretariat on the territory of Kazakhstan, the agency reports.

Astana. January 23. Kazakhstan Today - Today at the plenary session Majilis deputies approved the bill on ratification of the Agreement between Kazakhstan government and the Secretariat of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building (CICMA) on conditions of stay of CICMA Secretariat on the territory of Kazakhstan, the agency reports.

"The objective of the Agreement is further promotion of the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on convocation of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building in Asia," the Majilis Committee for International Affairs, Defense and Security states.

"The Agreement regulates the issues concerning stay of CICMA Secretariat in Kazakhstan. In consistency with the article 3 of the Agreement, the privileges and immunities of the Secretariat, facility and vehicles of the Secretariat, as well as its archives and documents, including official mail, cannot be under no circumstances subject to search, requisition, confiscation and arrest," the conclusion states.

According to the document, the Secretariat, its assets, incomes and other property are released from all direct taxes and tax collections, VAT, imposed on the territory of the accepting party, and from customs payments, duties and gathering, restrictions and ban on import and export by the Secretariat of the objects of use and printed materials.

The agreement was signed on June 26, 2007 in Astana.

The bill has been directed to the Senate.
