Majilis of Parliament approved amendments to legislation on freedom of worship and religious associations

The deputies of Majilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan at the plenary session approved in the second reading the bill on amendments and additions to the acts of Kazakhstan on freedom of worship and religious associations, the agency reports.

Astana. September 25. Kazakhstan Today - The deputies of Majilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan at the plenary session approved in the second reading the bill on amendments and additions to the acts of Kazakhstan on freedom of worship and religious associations, the agency reports.

According to the conclusion of Majilis Committee for International Affairs, Defense and Security, the text of the bill has been expanded by the norms regulating legal relations of religious groups by the state bodies. A number of introduced amendments is directed at bringing the document in conformity with the rules of legal technique and has editorial-specifying character.

The bill was approved in the first reading in June, 2008.

As it was informed earlier, at the plenary session Majilis deputies approved in the first reading the bill on amendments and additions to the acts concerning freedom of worship and religious associations".

"The bill is directed at elimination of some existing restrictions," Majilismen Berik Bekzhanov explained presenting the bill to the deputies.

The bill regulates questions of teaching of religious doctrines and popularization of the religious literature.

According to the conclusion of Majilis Committee for International Affairs, Defense and Security, the bill establishes responsibility for infringement of the legislation on freedom of worship and religious associations.
