Astana. February 24. Kazakhstan Today - The deputy of Majilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Abdirov, has pointed out serious problems regarding state border protection in the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea. He read his deputy inquiry addressed to the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, today during the plenary session in Majilis, the agency reports.

"Some serious problems requiring attention of the government were revealed during the trip of a group of Majilis deputies to the Mangistau area and the visits of some units of the coastal guard of KNB frontier service," N. Abdirov informed.

According to him, there are a number of problems in the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea regarding the coastal guard: "absence of base points for boundary ships of the coastal guard in Aktau port that complicates performance of duties related to safety of the frontiers central and southern parts of the Caspian Sea, and provision of the KNB frontier service divisions in the western strategic direction with the necessary buildings and premises."
