Masimov took part in ceremony of laying of foundation stone for construction of bitumen factory in Aktau

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, during his working trip to Mangistau region, took part in ceremony of laying of the foundation stone for construction of the bitumen factory in Aktau, the agency reports.

Aktau. January 26. Kazakhstan Today - The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, during his working trip to Mangistau region, took part in ceremony of laying of the foundation stone for construction of the bitumen factory in Aktau, the agency reports.

"Realization of this project is conformable with the assignments of the President of the country," K. Masimov noted.

The initiator of the project is JSC National Company KazMunaiGas along with the international financial group CITIC Group. The cost of the factory is $145 million.

Annually, Aktau factory will be able to process one million tons of oil with manufacture of high-quality road bitumen of 420 thousand tons a year. According to the preliminary agreements, a part of production of the factory will be used for realization of the program on development of highways in Mangistau region.

According to the forecast of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the demand of road branch of the Republic for bitumen totals in 2009 - 764 thousand tons. In the long term the demand will increase up to 1107 thousand tons in 2015.
