Astana. July 8. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Masimov took under his personal control traffic safety on Kazakhstan roads. He informed at the government session on Tuesday, the agency reports.

"As I consider this issue a priority, I take execution of this question under personal control. I will personally control this project," K. Masimov said having reminded that death rate in road accidents in Kazakhstan is the second reason of death after cardiovascular diseases.

"Unfortunately, we have this in our mentality ... driving without a seat belt, running the red light or crossing over into the other lane is not considered in our minds infringements of traffic rules, but to the contrary, even bravado. Therefore, I charge the Ministry of Culture and Information in the shortest terms to prepare a set of social commercials so that people understand that driving over the speed limit is wrong," he said.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan B. Muhamedzhanov informed that the accident rate in the country is "extremely high."Over 10 years more than 28 thousand people have died and more than 162 thousand people have been injured. Annually, number of road accidents increases by third and death toll increases by half. 2400 children have died on the roads over these years in Kazakhstan," B. Muhamedzhanov informed.
