According to the Central Electoral Committee of Georgia, after data processing from 87 % of polling districts Michael Saakashvili received 52.1 % of votes. The candidate from United Opposition Levan Gachechiladze received 25 %, businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili - 6.7 %, the leader of Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili - 6.3 %, the leader of New Right Party David Gamkrelidze - 3.9 %, George Maisashvili - 0.7 %, Irina Sarishvili - 0.2 %.

The Central Electoral Committee of Georgia is expected to finish counting of voices from all polling districts of the country in the evening on Tuesday, January 8. The winner of the presidential elections in Georgia will become a candidate who has received 50 % plus one vote.

The final results of the presidential elections of Georgia will be made public not earlier than January 13 after all complaints concerning the course of the elections will be considered received by the Central Electoral Committee of Georgia. According to the chairman of the Central Electoral Committee Levan Tarhnishvili, total quantity of the complaints exceeds 400. About 40 complaints from polling districts concern cancellation of the results of elections.

The leader of the state Michael Saakashvili made the decision on pre-scheduled elections in November, 2007 caused by extraordinary situation after dispersal of many thousands of people participating in opposition meetings.

About 2 million people took part in the presidential elections on January 5 that makes 60 % of all voters.
