More than 1.6 kilograms of heroin seized at the customs station in Almaty region

Shymkent. April 24. Kazakhstan Today - more than 1.6 kilograms of heroin were seizedat the customs station in Almaty region, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"On April 20 at 01:49 a.m. during combined search operations officers of the anti-smuggling department of customs control in Almaty region, Drug Enforcement Administration of the Internal Department of Almaty region at the Urdzhar customs station at the entrance to theSaryozek village stopped a car Audi 100 driven by a citizen of Kazakhstan, born in 1964. During checking of the vehicle they found and took from the fuel tank five plastic bottles of 0.5 liters with beige substance in the form of lumps and powder," the press service of the regional department of customs control informed.

According to the forensic chemical examination, the substance is a narcotic drug "heroin" weighing 1,669.96 grams, specified in the department.

According to the press service, Drug Enforcement Administration of the Internal Department of Almaty region launched a criminal case under part 3 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code. Currently, the customs authority are deciding whether to institute criminal proceedings on the grounds of an offense under paragraph 4 of Article 250 of the Criminal Code (smuggling drugs).
