More than third of technogenic waste of mining and metallurgical complex out of 20 billion tons in Kazakhstan - toxic. The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, informed at the First Kazakhstan International Congress of Mineral Resources and Metallurgy, the agency reports.

Astana. June 30. Kazakhstan Today - More than third of technogenic waste of mining and metallurgical complex out of 20 billion tons in Kazakhstan - toxic. The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, informed at the First Kazakhstan International Congress of Mineral Resources and Metallurgy, the agency reports.

"More than 30 billion tons of secondary resources, including 20 billion tons of technogenic waste of the mining and metallurgical complex have been accumulated in the country. More than third out of 20 billion of the accumulated waste - toxic," N. Nazarbayev said.

"It cannot go on like this. We need to find a balance between economy and ecology. The accident in the Gulf of Mexico is a vivid example."

"We should try to minimize the negative influences on the nature and to take care of the future generations."
