Nazarbayev met USA Secretary of State

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, met the USA Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, on Sunday, October 5, in Akorda, who arrived in Kazakhstan for a short-term working visit, the agency reports referring to the president's press service. According to the press service, during the meeting high officials discussed a broad range of questions of the international and regional character. In the center of attention there were the questions of normalization of the situation in Afghanistan, stabilization of the situation in Iraq, and settlement of the Caucasian conflict.

Astana. October 6. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, met the USA Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, on Sunday, October 5, in Akorda, who arrived in Kazakhstan for a short-term working visit, the agency reports referring to the president's press service.

According to the press service, during the meeting high officials discussed a broad range of questions of the international and regional character. In the center of attention there were the questions of normalization of the situation in Afghanistan, stabilization of the situation in Iraq, and settlement of the Caucasian conflict.

The important topics of the negotiation were also prospects of development of the Central-Asian region.

The parties also exchanged opinions on occasion of the present condition of the American-Russian relations, which makes the key factor of security in the world.

During the discussion of the Kazakhstan-American relations the interlocutors noted that they have multilateral character and have good development dynamics. Now Kazakhstan expects that the American business will invest in not only oil-and-gas sector of our economy, but also in other branches - agriculture, telecommunications, and transport.

The leader of the state thanked the USA for support of nomination of Kazakhstan presidency in OSCE in 2010 and expressed hope in fruitful cooperation within the limits of this organization.

In conclusion, the parties expressed intention to expand trade and economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between two countries.
