Nazarbayev named presidential candidate by Nur Otan

The People's Democratic Party Nur Otan has nominated its chairman Nursultan Nazarbayev as a presidential candidate. This was an initiative of the rector of Semipalatinsk State University named after Shakarim, the head of the initiative group for referendum to prolong presidential term of the current president of Kazakhstan, Erlan Sydykov, Kazakhstan Today reports.

Astana. February 11. Kazakhstan Today - The People's Democratic Party Nur Otan has nominated its chairman Nursultan Nazarbayev as a presidential candidate. This was an initiative of the rector of Semipalatinsk State University named after Shakarim, the head of the initiative group for referendum to prolong presidential term of the current president of Kazakhstan, Erlan Sydykov, Kazakhstan Today reports.

The initiative to nominate the chairman of Nur Otan Party Nursultan Nazarbayev as a presidential candidate was proposed at the 13th congress of the Nur Otan Party held in Astana.

Registration and nomination of candidates began on February, 5 and will run till February, 20th.

According to the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, "registration of candidates begins after candidates submit all the necessary documents and will come to an end on March 2, 2011."

Pre-election campaigning of presidential candidates will begin on March, 3 and will come to an end on April 1.

As informed earlier, N. Nazarbayev has served as the President of Kazakhstan since April, 1990. According to the Constitutional amendments, passed in 2007, he can be re-elected an unlimited number of times.
