Nazarbayev ordered to stop construction of new buildings in Almaty

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, ordered to stop construction of new buildings in Almaty. He informed journalists during his working trip to Almaty oblast. "We have discussed with akim of Almaty that we should stop construction of new buildings in the city, occupying open spaces, taking down kindergartens, Palaces for schoolchildren and so on," N. Nazarbayev said.

Almaty. July 24. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, ordered to stop construction of new buildings in Almaty. He informed journalists during his working trip to Almaty oblast.

"We have discussed with akim of Almaty that we should stop construction of new buildings in the city, occupying open spaces, taking down kindergartens, schoolchildren's palaces and so on," N. Nazarbayev said.

"I have charged akim of the city to stop construction of new buildings in the city, especially in the old central part. We have opened new Alatau region, which includes all depressive settlements. Those who wish to build in the city should go there, there are free land plots there," he noted.

"We should improve ecological conditions in the city. Two years ago I charged to stop any construction, to remove fences, to clean the rivers so that people could visit those places along Big Almatinka and Small Almatinka rivers and the National Park, which is part of Zailiysky Alatau," the President emphasized.
