Nazarbayev proposed amendments to Constitution in judicial system

Astana. May 16. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed a number of amendments to the Kazakhstan Constitution concerning judicial system at the joint session of the Parliament Chambers, the agency reports.

The President suggested abolishing board of experts of justice and transferring its functions on selection of candidates for the post of judges to the Supreme judicial council.

The bill on amendments and additions to the Kazakhstan Constitution introduces the norm according to which the Chairman and judges of the Supreme Court will be elected by the Senate by the President' recommendation based on the recommendation of the High judicial council. The Chairmen and judges of local courts will be appointed by the President by the recommendation of the Supreme judicial council.
