According to the press service, the head of the state signed the Law on amendments and additions to the Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Mass Media directed at improvement of the Mass Media Law and simplification of some administrative procedures connected with mass media work.

The text of the law is published in press.

As informed earlier, the law has been developed with a view of further liberalization of mass media legislation and removal of the excessive bureaucratic barriers regulating the activity of mass media. In this connection, the amendments will be introduced to the Civil Code, the Code of Administrative Offences and the Mass Media Law.

"First, the law eliminates excessive administrative barriers for printed and electronic mass media. The amendment will essentially simplify the activity of the newly created periodic printed editions and news agencies," the Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, Muhtar Kul-Muhamed, said.

"Secondly, the law extends the rights and professional interests of journalists.
