Nazarbayev signed law on ratification of Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants

Astana. June 8. Kazakhstan Today - The Kazakhstan leader Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the law on ratification of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants," the president's press service informed on Thursday.

As it was informed earlier, the purpose of the convention is introduction of restrictions on use and subsequent prohibition of manufacture, storage and emission of persistent pollutants (POP).

According to the convention, the use of equipment containing POP should be stopped by 2025. After joining the document Kazakhstan will receive financial and technical help.

The conference of the parties has been established to coordinate the work within the document. Mutual information interchange and estimation of efficiency of performance of the convention each four years is carried out through the body.

The convention was signed on May 22, 2001 in Sweden.
