Nazarbayev suggested reducing term of presidential powers from seven till five years

Astana. May 16. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev presenting today at the joint session of the Chambers of the Parliament the project of amendments to the Kazakhstan Constitution suggested reducing the term of presidential powers from seven till five years, the agency reports.

"This norm will come into force after 2012," the President said.

The President suggested holding elections in Majilis of the Parliament exclusively according to the party lists and increasing number of Majilismen up to 30 people and the number of Senate deputies- up to 8.

According to the President's proposal, the joint sessions of the Chambers of the Parliament will be convoked "on very important issues." The Basic Law of the country excludes the norm that the Parliament deputy is not provided with the imperative mandate.
