Norway interested in cooperation with Kazakhstan

Astana. October 10. Kazakhstan Today - Norway is interested in closer cooperation with Kazakhstan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Norway Kjetil Skogrand said today at a briefing following the results of the meeting with Kazakh Foreign Minister Kasymzhomart Tokayev in Astana.

"At present several Norwegian companies already work in Kazakhstan, there is a close cooperation in the field of ecology, professional trainings for petroleum industry, in the sphere of management of oil resources," Norwegian diplomat noted. The level of commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Norway remains low though in some branches the rise is felt, for example, on export of fish products. There is a potential of closer cooperation, especially in the field of energy, he said.

During the meeting the parties discussed further cooperation in power sphere, regional themes, and questions of global and regional security, stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan.
