Oil and Gas Ministry to create working group to check oil extraction technology

The Oil and Gas Ministry will create a working group to check oil extraction technology in the Caspian Sea. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, said during the government session, the agency reports.

Astana. May 4. Kazakhstan Today - The Oil and Gas Ministry will create a working group to check oil extraction technology in the Caspian Sea. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, said during the government session, the agency reports.

"I have assigned the Minister of Oil and Gas along with the Minister of the Environmental Protection: to create a joint working group and to look once again at how oil is extracted on the Caspian Sea, taking into account all those problems exist," K. Masimov said.

"A big tradegy occured in the Gulf of Mexico connected with wreck of an oil rig of the British Petroleum Company. It is a reliable company and it followed all standards. However, the tragedy has occurred," the Prime Minister noted.

As informed earlier, the oil slick from the BP-operated Deepwater Horizon rig, which exploded and sank a week ago, April 20. On April 30, 2010, the USA has made a decision to stop all works on the rig until the causes of the accident on the Deepwater Horizon rig are found out.
