Almaty. April 28. Kazakhstan Today - Only seven nuclear states should have the right to carry out nuclear research. The head of state, Nursultan Nazarbayev, said during the IX Eurasian Media Forum in Almaty today, the agency reports.

I consider that all five nuclear states and de facto two more, Pakistan and India, should unite in one club. It should be forbidden to all other states to own nuclear weapons," N. Nazarbayev said.

"At the same time, these nuclear states should give absolute guarantees confirmed by the UN Security Council," he noted.

The head of state also reminded that Kazakhstan brought a package of the new initiatives on strengthening of the non-proliferation mode of nuclear weapons at the Washington summit. In particular, Kazakhstan suggested developing and signing the new international acts in the sphere of nuclear disarmament: contracts on general horizontal and vertical non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and prohibition of manufacture of decomposed materials for military purposes.

"I also put forward the initiative to sign by the world community of the General Declaration of the Denuclearized World. We suggested signing, under the aegis of the United Nations, the new Global Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons."
