OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) suggests increasing military and humanitarian payments to strengthen security and stability in Afghanistan. OSCE resolution accepted today during the 17th annual session of the Assembly in Astana states.

Astana. July 3. Kazakhstan Today - OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) suggests increasing military and humanitarian payments to strengthen security and stability in Afghanistan. OSCE resolution accepted today during the 17th annual session of the Assembly in Astana states.

"OSCE PA calls national parliaments of its memebr countries to convince the governments to increase their military and humanitarian payments for strengthening of safety and stability in Afghanistan," the document states.

"The Assembly also recommends national parliaments to support political will of the governments concerning restoration and development of Afghanistan and political negotiations, which can be held and headed by the government of Afghanistan," the text states.

The Assembly also calls OSCE to study opportunities of the organization on rendering assistance in preparation to presidential and parliamentary elections planned in Afghanistan for 2009-2010, including in case of the need of organization of mission on supervision over elections.

According to the resolution, OSCE PA calls the governments of the states-participants to completely fulfill their obligations on international payments, especially the obligation concerning military missions and donor help to Afghanistan.

MP's of OSCE member countries also recommended UN missions to render assistance to Afghanistan to promote acceleration of development of agricultural sector of the country and escalating of potential in the field of manufacture of foodstuffs in connection with increase of prices.

"OSCE Assembly recommends studying current problems of Afghanistan in order to render assistance in search of additional resources and defining of areas of Afghanistan requiring support in increase of safety of people of this country and the population of all OSCE member countries," the resolution concludes.
