OSCE presidency to be discussed at Council of Foreign Ministers session in Madrid - MFA

The question of presidency of Kazakhstan in OSCE will be discussed on November 29- 30 at the session of the Ministerial Council of Foreign Affairs in Madrid.

Astana. November 27. Kazakhstan Today - The question of presidency of Kazakhstan in OSCE will be discussed on November 29- 30 at the session of the Ministerial Council of Foreign Affairs in Madrid. The Kazakhstan official representative of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Yezhan Ashikbayev informed at the briefing on Monday, the agency reports.

"The 15th session of the Ministerial Council of Foreign Affairs of OSCE member countries will be held with participation of the Kazakhstan delegation headed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs Marat Tazhin on November 29-30, in Madrid," Y. Ashikbayev informed. He informed "among others the question of the application of Kazakhstan for OSCE presidency in 2009 will be considered." "OSCE accepts all the decisions unanimously, by consensus. To reach the consensus the consent of all 56 member states is required.

A broad range of questions connected with the situation in the OSCE region will be considered at the session.

The participants will accept the documents and decisions "on immunities and privileges of OSCE employees, the strategy in the field of environment protection, contribution of OSCE in struggle against terrorism, counteraction to human trafficking, struggle against children's pornography in the Internet, and expansion of OSCE participation in settlement of the situation in Afghanistan," Y. Ashikbayev concluded.
