OSCE to assess presidential elections preparation in Tajikistan

Dushanbe. August 25. Kazakhstan Today - OSCE Mission for assessing the needs of the Bureau on Democratic Institutes and Human Rights arrived today in Dushanbe with six-day visit, the agency reports.

The purpose of the mission visit is the estimation of the process of the forthcoming presidential elections preparation in the Republic Tajikistan in the view of the obligations adopted within OSCE and rendering practical assistance to the Central commission on elections and referenda of Tajikistan.

The mission includes the Deputy Chairman of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of OSCE Nikolay Vulchanov, OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) adviser Conrad Olshevski and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Programme Officer Anna Chernova.

"During the stay in Dushanbe the mission representatives plan to meet with the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Central commission on elections and referenda. The meetings with the representatives of political parties, nongovernmental organizations, mass media and the Embassies of the foreign states in Tajikistan have been scheduled.
