Parliament of Kazakhstan ratified UN Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime

Today at plenary session Senate deputies passed the law on ratification of the UN Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime, the agency reports.

Astana. May 16. Kazakhstan Today - Today at plenary session Senate deputies passed the law on ratification of the UN Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime, the agency reports.

As it was informed earlier, the UN Convention is applied to the prevention, investigation and criminal prosecution of crimes of transnational character.

The Convention stipulates conditions and order of rendering mutual aid by competent authorities of the states-participants. Competent authorities can exchange mutual information concerning criminal-legal issues without tentative inquiry if such information can help a competent body of the other state with successful completion of investigation or criminal prosecution.

The UN Convention stipulates joint preparation of professional staff and rendering mutual technical help.

The Convention was accepted on the basis of the resolution of UN General Assembly at 55 sessions on November 15, 2000 and was ratified by 100 states.

The law has been forwarded to the President to be signed into law.
