Parliament ratified agreement on conditions of residence and work of NATO Communications Officer in Kazakhstan

The deputies of Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan adopted the Law on Ratification of the Agreement in the Form of Exchange of Notes between the government of Kazakhstan and Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on the conditions of stay and work of NATO Communications Officer in the Republic of Kazakhstan at the plenary session today, the agency reports.

Kazakhstan Today - The deputies of Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan adopted the Law on Ratification of the Agreement in the Form of Exchange of Notes between the government of Kazakhstan and Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on the conditions of stay and work of NATO Communications Officer in the Republic of Kazakhstan at the plenary session today, the agency reports.

As it was informed earlier, the agreement was signed on November 2007. Its purpose - creation of the legal basis for stay and activity of the NATO Communications Officer in Kazakhstan.

The decision on appointment of NATO Communications Officer in Central Asia was accepted at the Istanbul Summit of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council in 2004 and this decision was supported by Kazakhstan.

Activity of the officer is directed at cooperation with the state bodies of the Republic within the limits of the partnership program and granting consultations on Individual Partnership Action Plan.

The agreement is subject to ratification according to item 15 of the agreement taking into account granting to the Communications Officer and his family privileges, immunity and advantages given to the diplomatic personnel.

The law has been forwarded to the leader of the state to be signed into law.
