Parliament ratified Convention on Legal Status of CIS migrant workers

Today, at the plenary session, the deputies of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan passed the law on ratification of the Convention on Legal Status of Migrant Workers and Members of their Families of the CIS member states, the agency reports.

Astana. December 11. Kazakhstan Today - Today, at the plenary session, the deputies of the Senate of Parliament of Kazakhstan passed the law on ratification of the Convention on Legal Status of Migrant Workers and Members of their Families of the CIS member states, the agency reports.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan, the convention was signed on November 14, 2008 in Kishinev. All the member states of the CIS, except Turkmenistan and Moldova have signed it. The convention was ratified by Belorussia. The other states, which had joined the convention, are undergoing the process of ratification.

The convention regulates the terms of stay of labor migrants in a host country and defines fundamental laws for members of their families. The convention provides the rules, according to which the parties are obliged not to admit any kind of slavery, forced labor, tortures, cruel and degrading treatment of a person or punishment of migrant workers and members of their families.
