Potential of rapid response forces of CSTO states needs to be increased

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, considers important to increase potential of Collective Rapid Response Forces (CRRF) of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the agency reports citing the president's press service.

Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, considers important to increase potential of Collective Rapid Response Forces (CRRF) of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the agency reports citing the president's press service.

According to the press service, "N. Nazarbayev received the CSTO Secretary General, Nikolay Bordyuzha. During the meeting, N. Bordyuzha informed the head of the state of the course of preparation for the session of the CSTO Council of Collective Security that will be held on June 14th in Moscow."

"Signing of the Agreement on the CSTO Collective Rapid Response Forces will be the main event of the summit. The agreement concretizes the order of formation, preparation and functioning of the group of the organization intended for counteraction to threats for security in the zone of CSTO responsibility," the press service informed.

CSTO - the military-political union of seven countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, created on the basis of the Contract of Collective Security of May 15th, 1992. On May 14, 2002, the Contract of Collective Security was transformed to the international organization. On December 2, 2004, CSTO received the status of observer in the General Assembly of the United Nations.
