Presidency of Kazakhstan in OSCE to allow raising organization to new level

Almaty. February 16. Kazakhstan Today - The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, said at the meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, that the presidency of Kazakhstan in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) will allow raising the organization to the new level, the agency reports citing ITAR-TASS.

"Kazakhstan this year is the chairman in OSCE. I wish you successes in this work. For the first time, the country from the post-Soviet territory heads this organization and we count that under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan it will find the universal character and will deal with those issues for the sake of which it was created. It will be a good platform for discussion of security issues and, of course, advancement and strengthening of democracy not only on the post-Soviet territory, but also in the whole continent," V. Putin said.

The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation also noted that the financial crisis has not affected the Russian-Kazakhstan trade and economic relations. "I talked to your Prime Minister two days ago when we discussed our economic cooperation and I should say that, despite the crisis, our relations are developing well."

N. Nazarbayev suggested discussing not only trade and creation of transport corridors, but also investment cooperation. "We have other questions - cooperation in the cosmodrome Baikonur and nuclear technologies.
