President and prime minister's powers assigned to chairman of provisional government Otunbaeva

The provisional government of the Kyrgyz Republic published the decree, according to which the chairman of the provisional government, Roza Otunbaeva, will undertake powers of the president and prime minister during the transition period, the agency reports citing the provisional government's press service.

Kazakhstan Today - The provisional government of the Kyrgyz Republic published the decree, according to which the chairman of the provisional government, Roza Otunbaeva, will undertake powers of the president and prime minister during the transition period, the agency reports citing the provisional government's press service.

According to the press service, the duration of her term for the transition period will last until December 31, 2011. The president of Kyrgyzstan of the transition period does not have the right to run for the president's post of the Kyrgyz Republic in the next elections of 2011.

"R. Otunbaeva has undertaken all the president's powers; however, she will perform the president's duties until the first session of the Parliament (zhogorku kenesh) of the new convocation elected according to the new Constitution. The president for the transition period does not have the right to be a member of any political party, is obliged to observe political neutrality, and to refrain from any activities connected with support of any political party," the press service informs.
