President of Kazakhstan received credentials from UN Resident-Coordinator

Astana. June 19. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev received credentials from the UN Resident-Coordinator, permanent representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Kazakhstan, the agency reports.

"For years of membership in the United Nations Kazakhstan has brought significant contribution to maintenance of international peace and security," N. Nazarbayev said during the ceremony. "Our country occupies active position concerning nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, prevention of conflicts, struggle with drug trafficking, arms trafficking, organized crime and illegal migration," he emphasized.

In his turn, the UN representative informed "the United Nations made a decision on relocating the headquarter from Almaty to Astana." "At the same time, we have an intention that Almaty becomes the regional center of the UN activity," he added.

The Kazakhstan leader has also received credentials from the Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of Poland to Kazakhstan Paul Cheplak.
