President of Kyrgyzstan to run for second term

The President of Kyrgyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiev, informed at the press conference today with participation of mass media chairmen of Kyrgyzstan that he intends to run for the second term.

As informed earlier, the next presidential elections will take place in Kyrgyzstan in 2010. However, the President of Kyrgyzstan informed at the press conference the representatives of the political parties addressed the Constitutional Court with the offer to hold pre-scheduled elections. "If the Constitutional Court decides that elections will be held in 2009, I will obey to this."

"I do not intend to change the Constitution to please myself, to extend the presidential term. According to the Constitution, I have the right to two presidential terms," the President added.
