Prime Minister assigned to allocate funds and begin construction of third block of Ekibastuz GRES-2

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, assigned to allocate funds and to begin in 2009 construction of the third block of Ekibastuz state district power station-2. Akim of Pavlodar region, Bahytzhan Sagintayev, said during his working trip to the metallurgical enterprises of the region, the agency reports.

Kazakhstan Today - The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, assigned to allocate funds and to begin in 2009 construction of the third block of Ekibastuz state district power station-2. Akim of Pavlodar region, Bahytzhan Sagintayev, said during his working trip to the metallurgical enterprises of the region, the agency reports.

As informed earlier, construction of the third power unit on Ekibastuz GRES-2 will be financed at the expense of the National Fund.

According to the conclusion of the republican state enterprise State examination budget cost of construction of the third block totals 68 414 billion KZT. The term of construction will be 4 years. More than 2 thousand people will be involved in construction and installation of equipment at the station.

The first joint Kazakhstan-Russian enterprise in the field of power was created in 2005, according to the arrangement of the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia on the basis of Ekibastuz GRES-2. 50 % of the shares of Kazakhstan have been transferred to the state holding Samruk-Energo, the other part of the shares belongs to JSC Inter RAO UES.
