Prime Minister of France to visit Kazakhstan

Prime Minister of France Francois Fillon will pay official visit to Kazakhstan on February 8.

Astana. February 4. Kazakhstan Today - The Prime Minister of France Francois Fillon will pay official visit to Kazakhstan on February 8. The official representative of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev informed today at the briefing.

Y. Ashikbayev emphasized that "the forthcoming visit will become the first in the history of the Kazakhstan-French relations visit to our country by the leader of the French government." He noted that the visit is organized according to the arrangement "reached during the meeting of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev with his French counterpart Nikola Sarkozi in New York on September 25, 2007 within the limits of the session of the UN General Assembly."

During the visit the Prime Minister of France will hold meetings with the President of Kazakhstan and the prime minister of the Kazakhstan government. The parties will sign bilateral documents and hold the opening ceremony of the embassy of the French Republic in Astana. The leader of the French government will read a lecture to the faculty and listeners of the Academy of Public Management at Kazakhstan president.

"France for Kazakhstan is the fifth import trading partner. During the meeting with the leader of Kazakhstan in New York the President of France emphasized presence of opportunities for double increase of mutual commodity turnover," Y. Ashikbayev reminded.

By the results of 2007 volume of the Kazakhstan-French commerce exceeded $4 billion. As of September 30 of 2007 the French investments in the economy of Kazakhstan reached $3.7 billion.
