Prime Minister of Georgia resigned

The Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Nogaideli resigned. As the President of Georgia Michael Saakashvili stated on Friday evening, Lado Gurgenidze, the businessman, the chairman of the supervisory council Bank of Georgia, has been put forward for the post of prime minister of the country.

Tbilisi. November 19. Kazakhstan Today - The Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Nogaideli resigned. As the President of Georgia Michael Saakashvili stated on Friday evening, Lado Gurgenidze, the businessman, the chairman of the supervisory council Bank of Georgia, has been put forward for the post of prime minister of the country. The Parliament of Georgia should approve the candidature of the new prime minister within one week, the agency reports.

The President of Georgia highly estimated Z. Nogaideli's achievements on the post and noted that the new prime minister will continue his predecessor's reforms.

L. Gurgenidze, the candidate for the prime minister of Georgia post, is 37 years old. He received higher education in the USA and worked in the leading world banks. Since October 2004 he has been the General Director of Bank of Georgia and the member of the Supervisory Council of the Georgian stock exchange.

According to the Constitution of Georgia, resignation of prime minister of Georgia, entails termination of powers of the whole government. The candidate for the post of prime minister in 10-day's term, in coordination with the President of Georgia, should select the candidature of the members of the government. The government of Georgia consists of prime minister, 13 ministers and 4 state ministers.
