Prospects of cooperation of Kazakhstan and USA in security area discussed in Astana

Prospects of further cooperation in security area of Kazakhstan and the USA were discussed today during the meeting of the Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan, Danial Ahmetov, and the US Central Command chief, General David Petraeus, the agency reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Today - Prospects of further cooperation in security area of Kazakhstan and the USA were discussed today during the meeting of the Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan, Danial Ahmetov, and the US Central Command chief, General David Petraeus, the agency reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

"During the meeting the parties discussed prospects of further strengthening of cooperation between two countries in the security area, including reconstruction and stability in Iraq and Afghanistan," the press service informs.

After the negotiations of D. Petraeus with Vice Minister of Defense, General-Lieutenant Bulat Sembinov, met the Kazakhstan military personnel of peace-making unit 'Kazbrig', which served its noble mission in Iraq in the structure of the Multinational Forces for five years," the press service informs.

General D. Petraeus will present with the medal of the Ministry of Defense of the USA the 'Meritorious Service Medal' (For special merits) the Colonel Erlan Talasbaev who last year was the senior national representative of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan in the Central Command of the USA in the city of Tampa (Florida). 24 more Kazakhstan peacemakers have been presented with the memorable medals of the US Central Command.
